Regatta Venue

The Bosbaan rowing course is the oldest manmade rowing course in the world. It was build in 1936 as part of an employment project and originally comprised five lanes.

In 2001 the course has been widened to eight lanes and facilities were added to host major international tournaments, including the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in 2005 and 2011, the World Rowing Junior Championships in 2006 and World Cup II in 2007. Annually about ten national rowing regattas are held at the Bosbaan.

The athlete’s area comprises a boathouse area with dressing rooms, showers and other facilities for athletes. Five pontoons are available for embarking and disembarking.

The Olympic Training Centre (OTC) will be the central building at the venue. The OTC will house the information desk, regatta office and media centre. A grandstand will be provided for spectators. Coaching by bike is possible alongside the course, bike rental will be available at walking distance from the boathouse area.
